Welcome all to the European Championships!

Emotion and joy at the 2023 EBSA European Snooker Championships Official opening ceremony this Saturday night at St. Paul’s Bay Dolmen Hotel for the 177 competitors visiting Malta and aiming to succeed Estonian Andres Petrov as the next european snooker champion.

EBSA Chairman Maxime Cassis recognised the fantastic effort of Malta hosting this championships

Players, referees and staff had a cocktail and a warm welcome to the tournament from EBSA General Secretary Simon Smith for this mega event that gathers more than 400 competitors from 41 different countries across Europe: you almost can smell the adrenaline in the air.

«May the best man win» told EBSA Chairman Maxime Cassis, while Malta Billiards and Snooker Association President Ivan Brincat became emotional looking at a massive audience but captured also everyones attention speaking from the heart: «Feel, all, welcome to our country! It was a big effort, but we’re so glad to have you all here. Malta’s snooker passion and see you guys all here again is a dream come true».

Referees 5 star team for this European Championships

SportMalta CEO Mark Cutajar remembered the late Guuzi Grech as the Maltese stars Paul Mifsud, Tony Drago and Alex Borg to underline Malta’s passion for snooker. «It’s fantastic the progress and the work we’ve had developing snooker in Malta, and it’s with great joy that we see this championship in the country» he told the audience before a symbolic cocktail party at the lobby aside.

From Sunday March 12th in the morning until Saturday March 18th the 16 tables settled at the Dolmen Hotel will see plenty emotion and drama, as usual, starting with the best of 5 Frames round-robin matches.
