Morning glory
The group stage of the European Team Snooker Championships has reached the last day. The morning saw a shaky start from Malta’s Borg & Cini, as Lithuanians Afanasjev and Baradulin gave them a run for their money (3-2).
Amongst the Masters, Germans Burot and Heeger scored a double, making short work of Israel’s Pagliari & Tayar 5-0, as well as Russia’s Vill and Saveljev 3-2. Group C saw a more favourable result for the Israelis, as Mizrahi and Eisenberg won over locals Staniukynas and Bublys. The other groups saw a quick finish as England’s and Scotland’s duos celebrated their victories to close down the group, while the Swiss dominated the proceedings 5-0 in group D.
In the Ladies’ division, group A leaders Shut & Toumilovitch scraped 3 frame wins over Bulgaria’s Nikolvoa and Bakalska, while the Irish tandem of Sherwill & Mill prevailed 4-1 over their Polish competition.
