Lacka and Vandenbussche set a record for longest match
Izabela Lacka (Poland) and Anja Vandenbussche (Belgium) earned a place in the history books of the Women European Championships. It took the eight hours and 8 minutes to complete the longest match in the history of the event. Top seed Lacka won the epic 4:2 to earn a place in the semifinals.
The Pole went 3:1 ahead but need 150 minutes extra to finish the match. In the fifth frame Lacka was leading bi 9 with just pink and black on the table but missed a pot to the corner from the middle of the table and Vandenbussche cleared.
An hour later it all came down to the black in the sixth. Vandenbussche left it over the corner and from the bottom cushion Lacka potted it to end the epic.
