Jani Kananen remains in control in Group G of the 2023 European Senior individual Championships in Albena (Bulgaria). The 48-year old Finn beat Boris Lazarkov (Bulgaria) 3:0 to maintain a perfect record with one round left to play.

Kananen will meet tomorrow morning Philip Ciantar (Malta) for the top spot in the group. As for Lazarkov with two defeats in a row he is all but sure to bow out of the tournament before the knockout stage.

In Group J Maris Volajs (Latvia) recorded his second win of the tournament beating Jeremy Dorchies (France). Volajs plays next Nick Tielemans (Netherlands) for the top spot with the Latvian currently leading the standings by a virtue of a better frame difference.

At the same time Dorchies will have one final chance to record a win facing tomorrow Nazmi Albeni (Germany) with whom he shares the third place currently.
