Ireland 1 topped Group D in the Men’s Team event at the 2023 European Championships in Albena (Bulgaria). John Farrell and Mark Tuite beat England 2 3:2 to secure a place in the quarterfinals while their opponents are also through as runner-ups.

England 1 is on the verge of joining their compatriots in the knockouts. Wayne Brown and Gary Milne beat Malta 1 3:2 to remain at the top spot of Group C. The Englishmen were trailing after the doubles but Brown fired a 52 in his frame against Duncan Bezzina before Milne winning on a re-spotted black against Alex Borg.

England 1 needs two frames against Belgium on Wednesday to progress to the next round while Malta 1, sitting on second place, plays bottom of the table Scotland.
