Home countries do well in Session 2
The Irish, English and Welsh had a good session this afternoon in the Masters event with several of the possible pre tournament favourites recording solid 3-0 wins. Ireland’s Tom Gleeson saw off the challenge of France’s Marc Chouillier while his fellow Irish team mate Mark Tuite beat the Ukraine’s Stepan Delyatynskyy 3-0 comfortably. Ireland’s third win of the session came thanks to a 3-0 win for Alen Matic who beat Austria’s Alexander Trinkl by the same score line.
England’s Jamie Bodle (Pictured) also got his campaign off to a flyer with a 3-0 victory over Serbia’s Alexandar Kuzmancevic and will certainly be one of the players looking to challenge Tuite for the No.1 spot in this group.
Welshman Gavin Lewis also recorded a 3-0 win over Israel’s Ygal Pagliari in Group G while in other matches we saw good wins for Henrik Skjærup (Denmark), Mindaugas Maisiejus (Lithuania) and Viktor Myroniuk (Ukraine).
Finish player Esa Oikarinen was also in superb form and knocked in a 74 break on his way to a 3-0 win over Vadzim Shut of Belarus while Belgium’s Yvan Van Velthoven bettered that with a great break of 79 in his 3-1 win over Doron Lavie of Israel.
