FPB President Ricardo Salgado welcomes everyone to Portugal.

Dear friends,

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the participants in the European Snooker Championships Portugal 2024.

The European Snooker Championships, as previous editions have proved, are a marvellous occasion to get together and experience the beauty of our sport.

I am delighted that a large number of players, who share a love of the sport, respect fair play and compete in a true European sporting spirit, under the aegis of the EBSA – European Billiards & Snooker Association, meet regularly in various European countries.

It is our turn again and we are delighted to be able to welcome you to Portugal, so we would like to thank the EBSA – European Billiards & Snooker Association, its Board of Directors and especially its President, my good friend, Mr. Maxime Cassis, for the trust placed on us once again.

During these kinds of events, we do more than play sport – we broaden our horizons, get to know other cultures, promote a healthy society, stand on the side of peace, respecting and celebrating diversity. On this last note, it is with great pleasure that we have the European Disability Championships in Portugal for the first time, and I would like to give a special congratulations to the WDBS – World Disability Billiards and Snooker and the EBSA for such a noble initiative.

Being the organizer of the Championships is always a challenge, but it is also rewarding for those involved. Nevertheless, I would like to express my appreciation to the staff of the FPB, EBSA and WDBS, their partners and all those who make an essential contribution to the success of the event.

My gratitude also goes to the Government of Portugal, in the form of the Secretary of State for Sport and the IPDJ, and to Albufeira City Council for their support for this event.

I believe that this event will bring its participants unforgettable experiences and many personal achievements. I hope you all enjoy your time and that lasting friendships are born between the players, referees, officials, coaches and also all their families, which will be the legacy of all the events.

The sporting benefits we get and the projection we achieve with Snooker are completely impressive and, for that reason too, we hope to continue doing our best for our sport.

With best wishes, I welcome you, on behalf of FPB – Portuguese Billiard Federation, to the European Snooker Championships Portugal 2024!

Ricardo Salgado
