Father and son Borg out in Albena
Isaac Borg and Alex Borg were knocked out simultaneously in the Last 32 of the 2023 Shootout European Championships in Albena (Bulgaria). Alex lost 37:44 to compatriot Chris Peplow, while Isaac after leading the whole match was pipped to the line by young Matvei Lagodzinschii (Ukraine) – 47:44.
Ismail Turker, the only Turkish player at the Champiponships, is through to the Last 16 after a 45:28 win over Antonis Poullos (Cyprus). His next opponent will be Harvey Chandler, who dispatched Philip Ciantar (Malta) 71:1.
Three Polish players are also through to the next round in the bottom half of the draw. Pawel Rogoza beat Viktor Ivanov (Bulgaria) 75:0, Marcin Nitschke eliminated Halim Husain (England) 44:21 and Mateusz Baranowski knocked out Vladimir Ivanov (Bulgaria) with a break of 55.
