Ruberg fires a 71 en route to the Last 16
Shahar Ruberg fired a 71 break en route to a 4:0 win over veteran Stephen Delaney in the 6-Red event at the 2023 European Championships in Albena (Bulgaria). The Israeli was in no mood to waste any time and dispatched his opponent in little than an hour to reach the Last 16.
Later this afternoon Sharav will face Tomasz Skalski who in an All-Polish affair against Mateusz Baranowski eked out a 4:3 win.
Quick into the next round was also Alex Borg. Former pro player was never under threat in his match against Lee McAllister (Scotland) to win 4:0.
Next for Borg is a match against either top seed and Seniors’ runner-up Gary Milne or Pawel Rogoza (Poland).
Another medalist from the Seniors’ event, Wayne Brown got the best of Artemijs Zizins (Latvia) in a battle of generations. Being 36 years senior Englishman’s experience helped him in the last two frames in the 4:2 victory.
