Big Guns win with ease
We had a number of quick 4-0 results here in Sofia tonight as some of the top players finished won comfortably. The likes of Rodney Goggins, Jamie Clarke, Ray Fry and Eden Sharav weren’t waiting around as the all won in less than 80 minutes.
Irishman Rodney Goggins knocked in a 74 to finish off his 4-0 victory over Bulgaria’s Salim Otti. It took the Irishman just 70 min and it’s the first match finished here tonight in the 7pm session.
He was quickly followed by Raymond Fry from Northern Ireland who was only playing his first match of the tournament tonight and he was not waiting around as he defeats Bulgaria’s Hristo Sirakov 4-0 with a high run of 53 in the second frame.
Both Jamie Clarke and Eden Sharav were next up to finish with 4-0 score lines. Sharav was in control throughout his match with Tomas Puodziunas and finished it off with a 55 break in the last.
Clarke had a top run of 87 in the second frame against Daniel Mily from the Czech Republic to go 2-0 up but needed a 40 clearance in the 3rd frame to win on the black before closing out the match winning the last frame with ease.
Scotland’s Robert Carlisle however didn’t have it all his own was however as he overcame a tricky matchup against Maor Shalom but eventually ran out a 4-2 victor.
